sbk Posted April 15, 2009 Share Posted April 15, 2009 3 deaths and 86 injured on 4th day of 7 dangerous days in Southern provinces The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Division 11 of Surat Thani Province reports 72 road accidents, three deaths, and 86 injuries on the 4th day (April 13th) of the Songkran festival’s seven dangerous days. Director of Surat Thani DDPM Division 11 Wanchai Chaowanapanja reported the road accident statistics during the Songkran Festival in the provinces of Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chumphon, and Phatthalung. The main causes of the accidents included driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. Most of the accidents involve motorcycles and pick-up trucks.
