For myself I'm not living in Thailand (chock mai dii) but still practice, listen read and write almost daily. A good start is, buy Thai for beginners, by Ms Benjawan Poomsan Becker (ISBN nr 1-887521-00-3) cassettes are included total for about 500 bath, aswell thai english english thai dictionary (isbn 1-887521-14-3) a small pocket sized dictionary (425bath) and goes werever i go. Another tip learn the thai alphabeth, helps a lot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are there any english schools in the area, moer then likely there would be somone who could reverse the process and you could learn at least basics.A lot of the Public Schools if not all them have a Thia teacher who teaches English, try to find one and pay them for utoring. Just a Thought . I startedwith a college student but having married a Thia who didn't spekl english forced me to learn at aleast enough to get around a bit.
