AleG
Thank you very much for the comments, very appreciated. A few more from the same location. A very small bird, you can tell by comparing with the barb wire. I saw this little fellow a few times at the same spot when going out for lunch, one day I took my camera, went to the same place and sure enough, there it was. Although I only had a few seconds to take the picture before it flew away. I'm kind of developing a taste for shooting vines... Some macro photography, the spider was less than 1cm across, found it under a palm leaf.

AleG
nice shots, what camera/lens did you use? To clear up The Vulcan's answer... I used a Canon 450D Kiss camera, all shots except the last two with a canon 55-250mm lens and the last two with a Sigma 105mm macro lens. For the last one, the spider, I used the camera flash for lighting, the others are natural light. Edited June 24, 2009 by AleG

AleG
Goshawk, thanks a lot for identifying the bird, I looked it up in Wikipedia and it shows that they make an interesting nest. I think I know where the bird is nesting so maybe I'll try to sneak in and see if I find it. I'd like to take a picture of it, with any luck it'll have eggs or hatchlings. Aeon, that's one of the things I like about the 55-250 lens, it makes a very nice bocke/blurring of the background when used at close ranges.
