I believe it to be Hindu "higher power" that many Thai "Buddhists" I know use. Some tell me it means "holy". Any info would be very much appreciated. It can refer to anything from Buddhas and Buddha amulets to ceremonial water blessed by monks. I also hear it used in blessings in everyday Thai - "khor hai sing sak-sit thang laai chuay .... May the Lord protect and defend you, May the Lord preserve you from pain Favor them Oh Lord, with happiness and peace, Oh hear our Sabbath prayer, Amen. (fiddler on the roof; ruth's prayer) or soething? psalms: (tehilim) or, what we call the house blessing (birhat a beit) ... just guessing for the fun of it actually... Edward, that is pretty much it. well done. The original is something like, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference". Not sure exactly where it comes from, but is a very well known prayer. There may be a better way to translate this, but it was a Thai who did it.
