I'm looking forward to the travelogue section of the magazine and eagerly anticipate reports from such exotic and highly desirable locations such as El Salvador, Botswana, and the Ivory Coast.

I'm not looking forward to the centrefold.

The question is, Who is going to read it???

Haven't seen many Thais reading a book, not even, a magazine!!!!!

actually, might be true about less thais seem to read books....but must add that lots of thais read short novels

and certainly read lots of magazines.

the question is more the what type of magazines (lots would read entertainment type. or one of those that are collection of novels, published weekly in instalments. not sure how to describe it)

sorry, back to Thaksin's voice :)

Not sure where you've been hanging out but huge numbers of Thais read magazines. Thai newspapers have huge circulation numbers as well.

"Voice of Thaksin" launch on July 20

A number of Thaksin Shinawatra's supporters will launch a biweekly magazine "Voice of Thaksin" on Monday, July 20, said Somyos Prueksakasemsuk, a leader of the anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship.

Somyos said the launch is intended to mark the former prime minister's 60th birthday, which falls on July 26.

He said the magazine is produced by Sutham Saengprathum, a former executive of the now-dissolved Thai Rak Thai Party, with support from those loyal to Thaksin such as Sunai Julapongsathorn, Surapong Towichakchaikul, Suthachai Yimprasert, Thanes Charoenmuang, Prasaeng Mongkolsiri, Jaran Ditha-apichai, Karun Hosakul, Pracha Prasopdee, Jakrapob Penkair and Charuwong Ruangsuwan. Wow, You Farangs get all worked up about a pro-Thaksin initiative. But I understand that it takes time to turn around the brainwashing that has been the product of three years plus, of anti-Thaksin demonization program in the only media you can read. Fortunately the Thai electorate have shown they are more astute, and that is all that matters. Brain-washed Farangs can blow-viate all they want, and I enjoy interacting with them via these posts. I am surprised however by their susceptibility to anti-democracy politics, considering the democratic traditions they have grown up with. By the way, this magazine was conceived and is being published by "friends of Thaksin", and is not an initiative of his. Publishers know the huge readership involved and it is good business.

Anything involved with Thaksin involves a whole lot of money. If he wasn't shoveling money at everyone who doesn't hate him, he'd have no more supporters than the guy selling charcoal under the bridge.

Some article title suggestions;

HOW TO FLEE THAILAND ILLEGALLY

HOW TO SLOUGH RESPONSIBILITY

HOW TO AVOID PAYING CORPORATE TAXES

HOW TO PROMISE RICHES, BUT DELIVER NOTHING

HOW TO FOOL FOREIGN LEADERS IN TO THINKING YOU OFFICIALLY REPRESENT THAILAND

HOW TO CHEAT PEOPLE AND GET RICH

HOW TO ENDANGER YOUR CHILDREN BY USING THEM AS TAX SHELTERS

How are they going to market the shares? The old pyramid scam comes to mind, but for such a group (friends of thaksin) to employee such a scam, they need to have the maid, driver, gardener, etc as the fronts, so they can conduct business as usual. The term 'good business' involving Thaksin and his cohorts, could/should get the legal beagles on point. Guess the banks may have been reluctant to loan a few billion for this money maker.

On a more substantive note however, my major fear going forward, is that this Government will try to fiddle with constitutional and political reforms when they do not have either a mandate to do that, nor the electoral legitimacy. This is especially worrying when everyone knows that the next election will be their demise. Given that knowledge, can you imagine what they will try to do under the misdirected code-words of National reconciliation, political reform, etc. In the interests of fair-play however, should they win the next election, by all means they should wipe away the legacy of the military coup Government.

Probably try and cheat - like every other fcuker in Thai politics.

it reminded me of another funny money maker that seems to abound lately with Thaksin and the Red Shirts... sorry, but never did hear who won.

Normally I don't like to speculate but can we expect a circulation/distribution of 1.000.000 copies per issue?

I know we will not agree on Thaksin. At the very least, can we agree that one-person-one-vote electoral Democracy is under threat here in Thailand and is hanging in the balance?

Not sure of what quality the magazine will be. It just shows again that the way Thaksin was removed from power was absolutely unacceptable and damaging for the country. Thaksin-supporters still feel cheated and their voices and opinions remain unheard. Remember that the current government has never been elected!

Now Thailand has to deal with a Thaksin who seeks revenge and enjoys steering up trouble. Very damaging for the country indeed. And nobody from the current government or the so called “Thai military Elite” wants to take any responsibility for the mess they caused themselves!!!

As I am getting older I am not sure I've got that last sentence right. Does it mean each participant is paid 200 Baht... or people must pay 200 Baht to participate?
