likite
If you freelance (self employed) as a teacher from home are there any permits or documentation required for this work? I will initially be on a tourist visa. Thanks Likite
kenkannif
You can't really do it legally without setting up your own school etc. to get a TL and work permit etc. But saying that most teachers at some time or another work illegally here (although obviously no one on this board condones it, it's a part of life teaching here in Thailand). terdsak_12
I used to make a tidy sum teaching folk around my old moo-baan, wouldn't worry about WPs etc. Then again other board members will say" Be afraid, be very afraid"
Ijustwannateach
Basically, it's illegal. It carries a penalty, which could theoretically be a heavy one. So does jaywalking in Bangkok. Make your choice and take your chance. A wise man who wanted to run a largish operation of this type might want to make sure at least one local policeman's child was in his private class at a reduced rate, to "certify" it. aqua4
Setting up shop the legal way is just a nightmare! Everything in Thailand is biased towards the illegal way.
