Cuban
I must quickly point out we have two fridges, one for Thai stuff the other for human food. My fridge also gets cleaned more frequently as the remains of this poor chap below, caught on the door seal of the bug-fridge some time ago, reveals. surayu
well, did you try to ask him the question? mr Gecko on the second picture is no longer able to give you an answer, but i am sure the alien you pictured on the first frame might somehow unveil this mistery for you

MTH
Great picture. Have you asked the missus? It's an edible bug, so maybe it was stored in the fridge while gathering some more for a gastronomical meal. It's a water beetle or maengda (แมงดา) in Thai. amja
Me too, thats why some cleaning to do early morning. Yak. Not to worry! I had soe of them some years back. And when i asked "pld mama" she told me, if you spill just a small amount of anything with sugar in it (beer too) they whey will find out! But no harm, they do not bite! Remember you are in a differnt country and you do not have to be scared of every bug you do not know! hope you get along, Anders

phibunmike
- because they spoil if you leave them out too long (Actually, when ground up with chilli, they make a delicious and almost menthol-flavoured sauce. But I will deny I ever said that.) Cheers, Mike
Cuban
Straight from wikipedia, this species (known as malaeng da na - แมลงดานา) is a popular dish, eaten whole and fried, an extract is used to make Nam Prik Mang Da, a type of chili sauce. ...maybe you spend too much time in 'The Che Guvara'?I'll stick to the beers in my fridge thanks. Have you seen the bugs in any commercial kitchen in Thailand? Edited October 31, 2009 by Cuban

Pretty weird looking bug We have a separate building that is indoor/outdoor kitchen and eating area, the house proper is alongside. I helps keep bug issues away from the house.
