Did the man use his right hand to knock on the door?

Did he still have the briefcase in hand while knocking on the door?

Did he use his head to knock on the door?

Lifeboat with oars... if all on the right side, the boat would travel in circles? Hmm?

OK. Here's mine.

"Are you the duffer who visits my non-p*ssy, non-dick, non-bargirl, non-vaginal, non-loin threads and .... still can't answer a single question? :D

I ought to hit you over the head with your own dick and raise your IQ a notch or two -- but that might open up a can of worms; you might like it and thereby sink further into that assinine, hovine, bovine output mode! :o

Try participating, dummy! You might learn something! :D

What a shame..........I thought you was an intelligent, thoughtful, upstanding member of our community that relished a challange. Instead in the wake of critisism, you revert to the trollish, stupid, unfunny remarks that are a trademark of some of our more ignorant viewers. Shame on you. Still it's put you in place in my TV order of merit.

Mind you saying that it seems to have turned into quite an interesting topic. Maybe I should have saved my original wit for someone more worthy of my poisen pen.

The man was a doctor/surgeon

When they were shipwrecked they had no food

The doc was elected to remove arms for food until they were rescued

The doc was excused losing an arm because he was the doctor.

They agreed that after recue thet should all loose one arm.

And the long overcoat was hiding his arm that he was supposed to have amputated?

The overcoat was hiding an injury but he did not cut off his arm as he was supposed to. Had he tried to cut off his arm and couldn't finish the job? Hence the overcoat?

Are they members of a cult?

Had they all been on this boat trip a long time ago?

Had he made the agreement to cut off the arm because they all lost theirs on this boat trip and it was somehow his fault?

Hmmm. Am wondering why they all lost their left arms.

Did he cause an accident that affected the left side of the boat only?

Was it a small boat, like a canoe, that everyone's arms would have been hanging outside?

Please come back with some answers.

If most people are right handed then their right arms would be more musclely and sinewy than their left and tougher to eat? (Also it's nigh impossible getting a pair of left handed scissors) :D

They took the right to bear arms too literally except the doc? :o

I think Goldenbeard is getting close. The doc couldn't go through with taking off his own arm and tried to buy his way out with cash.

I'm sure I've read this puzzle before somewhere but damned if I can remember the ending. :D
