Boatabike
and who said backpackers are poor <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nobody said they were poor, lets face it traveling xthousands of KM for their yearly bath is a little on the extravagant side of poor dont you think? I suspect 40 mill Baht of that was for the 5-10 baht water pistol top up they tried charging me last year when i accidently made the mistake of listening to someone who said it would be fun to go there. Most un Songkarn like in my opinion.
The_Other_Mac
One million euros over 3 days? From 300,000 people? That's, er, 3 euros per person per day. BTW, you can't get a bed for that much, and beers aren't much cheaper than other farang areas. Oh, you mean reported revenues...

Oleg_Rus
I think one mil euro for songran fest has nothing to do with songran fest. Even more, I think gross revenue declined during those days. KS Road made that money on daily basis, no matter what do thais celebrate or not. It's just a trick to get some attention. with all shops, bars, guest houses and hotels, travel agencies and silver shops, working almost 24/7 like a cash machines - truly some were closed, so the revenue did decline, insead of rise. right?
