sceadugenga
What you like in moderation. I fried some left over potatoes and had them with eggs this morning. I rarely eat that sort of thing now so enjoyed them all the more. Merry Christmas General, I'm back off to Oz for a few weeks tomorrow, will call in when I get back. villagefarang
I don't think anyone should fear the demise of McD, nor the elimination of a single establishment. Unless of course it fails to turn a profit, which seems highly unlikely considering modern trends.
Ulysses G.
Perhaps you are right, but there is a big politically correct push to demonize hamburgers in general and McDonalds' in particular and they will happily twist the truth or blatantly lie in order to do so. Banning meat is their real goal, but they are working their way up to that. sceadugenga Hello! Edited December 25, 2009 by Ulysses G.

Tongdee
Macdonalds- I'd be delighted to see a Macdonalds in Chiang Rai. I often stop in a Macdonalds in Thailand. Gauranteed clean toilets. First class washroom facilities are hard to find. I cant imagine eating there though. Cheers Tongdee

rijb
I'd like a McDonalds here in Chiang Rai. I don't believe one restaurant will trigger a "pandemic of obesity." However, I am concerned about how children are more susceptible than adults to "flavor enhancers" consumed in prepared foods (soups, snacks, sauces, gravies, etc.) on a daily basis. I believe Excitotoxins (MSG, aspartame), that make food taste better, are more to blame for overeating than a "convenience" store.

These are maybe a little bit similar to the kind of magic addicting components the tabacco industry serves in cigarets. Stuff that manipulates the mind to cheat the body into unhealthy desires. I never thought about it that way. I only knew about MSG. Thanks for your interesting posting. I am far from being a specialist, but those who overwhelmed by nostalgia suddenly feel the urge to bite into a hamburger could give it a try at 'world class hamburgers' (yes, WCH) at the entry of the golfcourse at the old airport. I am sure that good old Barry wouldn't want to poison us and though he is an excellent golf teacher, his passion has always been these gigantic, not to say monstrous, American style Hamburgers. Nor would Rico, for that matter, nor would Seaone, just to give som examples. Sorry Chang35Baht, but I still didn't try the ones of the Chathouse. Ulysses G.
These flavor enhancers are used in every kind of food and are in no way secret. The have been around forever. If you eat Asian food you are getting them. If you eat tomatoes or cheese you are getting them. Vegemite and Marmite have a lot. Soups have them. Crackers and chips have them. Maggi sauce has them. They are pretty much everywhere. Edited December 27, 2009 by Ulysses G.
klikster
For every person asking for information, it seems that: A member will tell the OP s/he doesn't need the information, Another will question his/her motives, A third will rant about the evils of whatever the OP wants, Then eventually someone will supply some information, And finally, a troll will come along and flame the purveyor of information.
