webfact
Chiang Mai red shirts rally against northern police chief Somkid Chiang Mai - Some 100 red-shirt protesters Monday demanded the transfer of Provincial Police Bureau 5 chief Pol Lt Gen Somkid Boonthanom. The red-shirt protester gathered outside the Provincial Police Bureau 5 head office. Some 50 commando police put up a barbed-wire barrier to prevent the protesters from going inside. The protesters carried a mock coffin of Somkid and left it on the barbed wires. They said Somkid had to stop serving as the northern police chief because he has been charged with being involved in the murder and abduction of a Saudi businessman. -- The Nation 2010-01-25 [newsfooter][/newsfooter]
