The_Other_Mac
I saw this very odd-looking vegetable among the "hygenic vegetables" in Foodland. It was slices of something round and white, about 5 cm across, with detailed little symmetric holes. The Thai label said it was Pat Pak Dtaeng (low tone as in dtaeng-ngan). The English label helpfully translated this as "cutting vegetable 2". Any idea if there's a proper English word? Anyway, what does dtaeng mean as a prefix? SingularMess
Must be แตง , i.e., cucumber or relative of the cucumber.
SingularMess
PS: but what you're describing sounds more like lotus root to me.
