Hi All,

can anyone help with advice.

Poor folks here in the the village go to the local hospital diagnosed with Hiv/aids

local hospital tells ''go home and die or stay here and die''.

I get this from my brother in law who has Aids gets free medication from the Christian Missionary Hosp at Manorom. I pay for his tests and any addition meds.

When he first went to the local he was told the same and I took him to Manorom where he was looked after and more than 18 months later is doing well.

Unfortunately I can't afford to pay for these others. We are in the Pichit Provence

does anyone know where there is a hospital in this provence or the closest one to here that is a government hospital specialising in this desease.

By the way Manorom is in the Chai Naat Provence south of Nakon Sawan.

Regards Joe

To the best of my knowledge there are no hospitals in Thailand that specialise in HIV/Aids. Even after a big promo by the Red Cross in Bangkok to raise money for HIV/Aids victims they failed to notify the public that they offer no services for treatment only for identification.

The 30 Baht system doesn't cover the problem, no matter what the authoroties try to convince. If you know the drugs that are being used, your best bet is probably to get them direct from a pharmacy in the Victory Monument area of Bangkok who will sell them over the counter at a price distinctly cheaper than hospital pharmacies. However, they still don't come cheap!

Suan Dok hospital in Chiang Mai is a government facility with an excellent HIV department. Very affordable. The doctors there are very current.

The locally made generic cocktail of drugs will cost you about 40 baht per day. Many Thais are getting their drugs subsidized.

In Bangkok, I would look into Chulalongkorn Hospital.
