Redsunset
"He said the soldiers and police have strictly followed the rules by starting the countering measures from using shields, water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets. However the protesters have used all means particularly explosives, guns and rifles, which caused the injuries." Well, use real bullets and finish it. Many more people lives are going to be ripped apart when many biz go broke and they have no jobs. Personally, I am not red, yellow or black It's just getting pathetic now. If you declare war, then expect it back when the Army outnumber you and you keep pissing them off, simple. Then again, its for the Thais to fix it, their problem , not mine. At least many bars will be struggling and might have happy hours soon at a better rate. Anyone heard any tips of good happy hours? With lack of tourist, should be able to get some cheap Suckie suckie BJ's when this shinagians blows over. Mate, get a life...... You think that is the only reason why foreigners come to Thailand? Degrading Thai's the way that you are doing now only reflects bad on everyone that comes here. Ignore the trolls. They do not have a life and they get off and get their attention by being jerks... waza
This is a very sad day in Thai history. Those people died because 1 person is after money. At the same same time those people died, you hear an MP...yes a Member of Parliament...screaming on stage that there "Will be no more negotiations"!! That person is one of the reasons people died out there. 4 soldiers, 4 Red Shirts, 1 journalist. If those protesters where peaceful, then please explain to me why there's 4 dead soldiers?! Sad day.... Hmmm I was at Chit Lom the other day taking pics, I noticed that at night one group of young protestors were drinking all night and writing grafiti over the walls of the shops, in the morning when the older group woke up they would clean the grafitti off. Seems there are different factions within the protestors with differing agendas

chadintheusa
Obviously there are a lot of cynical people here, but I guess that is the price we pay for freedom of speech. if you really believe in free speech you would allow them the right to say what they want. But as you can see from what has been posted free speech is over rated.
ozzieal
If it is proven that some of these people that died were paid by Thaksin to be there I would think he could be up on some very serious charges ' none of this would have happened if the red shirts were left to govern the country as duly elected... Redsunset
The protests, violence, endless fighting and bickering will not end soon. Abhisit is in an impossible situation. He cannot win. Neither can most other people who would be Prime Minister. Unless you get a neutral, incompetent, useless Prime Minister, there will always be strife.Edi
Brunus
It is very sad that people, both red shirts and soldiers, died because of a conflict between rich politicians who don't care about people. Both parties have these deaths on their consciences. RIP
moresomekl
And where is Abhisit?!?People keep dying because of him. Actually they are dying because of your hero Thaksin. They are just cannon fodder for him. And what's thaksins response to this shameful and sad scenario which is a result of his massive corruption, abuse of power etc? One poster says abhisit is to blame for the deaths which happened this day, but of course the fact that thaksin supervised the deaths of 2,500 fellow Thais and had oversight repsonsibility for the death of 250 young men dying of suffocation, and more, is not mentioned by the red supporters. Both are to blame , Thaksin and Abhisit

The protesters range from hard core revolutionaries to politically minded concerned citizens to those who just tagged along. The bulk of them need to go home now! Bullets can't discern between your political viewpoints. Go somewhere safe.

They are just cannon fodder for him. We should leave Thaksin out of this mess it is not going to help, we need democracy, we do not need a coup or a PM handled by the militars = your hero Abhisit. Why would we consider leaving Taksin out of this mess? This mess was bought and paid for by him. The blood of every victim of this mess is on his hands as well as the other red leaders that are so willing to use these poor villagers as their pawns. I just hope that now most of the reds will realize that the 500 baht/day (or whatever Takky is paying them) is just not worth it and they go home and enjoy Songkran with their families. BarryM
It's their country. No matter how much you "invest" in it - financially, emotionally, socially - you are just a farang. On a par with a "n***er" in the US 200 years ago in their view. Tolerated as long as you keep spending money. Seems the only thing Thailand offers worth buying these days is sex. any comments about special deals in light of the inevitable downturn in tourist arrivals are both informative and indicative of the state of this banana "republic"........not quite...tick tock

Crushdepth
Jatuporn and his buddies make me sick. This is exactly the situation they've been trying to provoke - a big mess and some bodies to bring the government down. They knew the consequences, they don't give a dam_n about their own people. schuimpje
Just my personal view on this: The government has done an incredible job keeping its cool. Personally, I'd would have picked up a club and smashed some teeth out of this Jaturporn. Absolutely amazing how K.Abhisit has kept going, even after Friday's trouble. There is, for me, no doubt that there is one principal reason behind all this which is greed for lost money. That people out there don't see this is not their mistake, it is a problem that will take generations to solve and you can not blame 99% of the red-shirts for whatever happened today and in the last 3 weeks. There is a small group of people that need to be punished for being responsible for the death of 9 people. That group is easy to identify, they all got arrest-warrants in the last 3 days or so. The only person escaping this would be Mr. Jutaporn, but my gut-feeling is that he will not show up in parliament anymore and loose his MP-immunity status very very soon and will be spat upon once he opens the door to enter parliament.
