Stop Smoking Support And Resources In Thai

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to get my Thai partner to stop smoking. He doesn't really know anything about trying to stop (ie:withdrawal symptoms etc) and whilst there is a lot of info on the internet in English, does anybody know of any resources in Thai?

Also are there any stop smoking support groups for Thais (in Chiang Mai area?)

He feels he can't give up bcos it will be too difficult, but he doesn't know there's a lot of tools and support to help (ie: patches etc)

I know them in English, but I need Thai equivalents!

Also when he's not had a cigarette in a while he coughs a lot (normal symptom I know), but he also has asthma, is it possible that he would cough so much it become serious/life threatening? Sounds like silly question I know, but can't help but wonder if it's dangerous to put the body into such a shock like that

Also in the morning when he first wakes up, if he doesn't have a cigarette straight away he says his lungs feel uncomfortable like its difficult to get the air in and out, thats why he needs that first fag then he feels better.

Is that normal?

Thanks in advance,

PS. He's a smoker of 30 yrs, 2pacs/day

1600 Quitline. Call this number to get the required information in Thai. They will also send you a quit package and follow up calls by phone, or at least they used to.

Or visit their website at:
