Armoured Vehicles, Army Live Bullets Will Be Used To Surround Red-Shirts From 6pm

If they don't go ahead with this resolution. What little credibility the authorities did have, will evaporate completely.

I reckon they will go ahead and surround the area, but probably not much more than that will occur.

Yes, that looks like the plan. As they learned on Apr 10, its suicide to go in at nightime, so they're not going to be attacking after 6m. The biggest worry is that the Reds will start pot-shotting at them. Some poor conscripts are going to get it for sure.

I wonder how many of these 'generals' who are responsible for the strategic thinking have actually studied anything about modern urban conflict, or did they just 'pass' all their exams with money spent in the right places?

How come the reds can openly carry about with them all other kinds of home made weapons ?

Its like the wild west out there and the govt cant do anything about it ?

Really sad what people can get away with in the name of HR and freedom

The Red leaders say the protesters will be rehearsing counter-dispersal tactics ahead of the launch of the dispersal operation tonight at 6 P.M. - according to the TAN Network

Is this a joke. This whole affair is turning into a complete farce.

Well let's see. The government has been more than patient in my humble opinion. They can't let this drag on. Had this been China and may other places the Reds would have been forced out long ago. I hope that no one is killed, but if they are so stupid to think they can over throw the government which has the support of the police and army, they are mad.

If they had the support of the police and army it would have been over long ago. Don't you know anything? Sounds like your the mad one! Lol

About time too, It was always enevitable that this situation would end in tears. The reds know they are there illegally, apart from the chaos disruption and

hardship they have caused to their fellow countrymen, they have had ample warning to go ,so if they stay and fight then they must take the consequences.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!

"Live Bullets to Be Used" - regardless of the circumstances?

did they say live bullets would be used, or just they would be carried/available?

what is the original thai wording?

it would be foolish to send troops in to surround the barricades essentially defenseless.

Time..??? It's been two months!!

See Neville Chamberlain. The reds had their shot. They asked and were given new elections a year early. That wasn't good enough. The govt. has tried negotiations with them. They don't want it. IMHO Abhisit should be given a medal for the restraint he has shown so far. These red leaders do NOT want negotiations, they want blood. If it's from they're own people, so be it. I'll be it wont be the leaders blood.

its been frustrating sure but why does it sound like people want the army /government to hurry up and kill people? Isn't calling for the crackdown, getting the reds out etc calling for people's deaths (probably on both sides)?

Careful, you get branded a terrorist or red shirt apologist for saying that! :)

One thing for sure , all THAI are the same SAY I DO and DO Nothing , same in Business , same in Government , that way no one can be accountable !! Its the Thai Way

Is there something we can say about "all" Canadians? All Thais are this way? You got to be kidding? Is this based on their culture, or is it a race thing, how can you make such a statement? The one thing you do have going for you is newbie, and in most cases that means uniformed.

Get rid of this scum NOW!!

The scum supported by a large proportion of the country, including Bangkok residents? Oh, THAT scum. Right.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Shining Path in Peru had a lot of supporters too, mate. Some things just can't be tolerated if you want a civil society.

Agreed. Though there is the matter of April 10 of course. That may have been more Suthep's doing though.

If they start to seal off at 6 (with a little bit soldiers and mostly useless police) keep them busy till 4 in the morning and than come with the real soldiers and start when the light comes?

So the reds are already wear out. Last nights show to don't let them sleep happy.

Sound logic, or? As today is half a holiday and the weekend is coming there won't be too many other people there and government can operate till Sunday....

But in the last month, never something logic happened.....

... Singapore style governance...

So: how much worse off is average Jane/Joe Doe in Singapore, as compared to people in glorious functioning democracies? And/or how much worse off than your average Thai person in the present form of government?

All Canadians can shovel snow and eat poutine. (Maybe that's only Quebec) There I said it. I'm a racist.

J/K of course :)

"Live Bullets to Be Used" - regardless of the circumstances?

I can see Thailand's international status crumbling over the next few days - to a par with China.

well nothing to lose considering they were already refused entry onto the Human Rights list today, might as well play up to that, nobody is expecting human rights to be observed anyway.

Not exactly right - with China, they got the Olympics based on what everyone knew was an empty promise of improved human rights. Why? Because China has some clout in the world. When they talk people listen. Unlike this backwater country, which most people confuse with Taiwan. No one cares once you step across the border. There are lots of important things going on around the world, no one is interested in whats happening here. UK election, Greece collapsing, Spain is next. The world cup is coming up and playboy is going 3D. those are the important stories.

Might be right about that. Let's go ahead and see. This isn't some 1 day protest. It's gotta end somehow, and IMO Abhisit has already given them everything they want, and it's not good enough. He can give them more, but then they will just ask for more.

Wish I had a dollar or pound for everytime I heard that one. I could retire in Thailand.

Abhisit: The embattled premier had offered to dissolve parliament in the second half of September for elections on Nov 14 if all parties accepted his reconciliation plan.

"I have cancelled the election date... because protesters refuse to disperse," Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva told reporters.

Oh, are the reds now a party? or does he give them legal status by that announcement?

Abhisit is a weakling times 3

He could go on without the consent of terrorists and criminals one should think, but his statements mean that he goes down to the same level.

Hmmmm. If Thaksin were Prime Minister I just wonder how he would handle this situation EH?

He wouldn't have let this happen. If he had control of the army, there would be no protest to start with.

Yay for RED DEMOCRACY.
