webfact Posted August 25, 2010 Author Share Posted August 25, 2010 Tight Security Ahead of Protest The metropolitan police chief has ordered security personnel to be on high alert for tomorrow's rally by red-shirt supporters against what they claim as double standard as it is also the birthday of the Privy Council president. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Santhan Chaiyanon called a meeting with police chiefs from Divisions 1, 2 , 4, 5 and 6 to discuss security measures for tomorrow's demonstration planned by the June 24 Democracy faction of the red-shirt movement. Protesters will be wearing black as a symbol of their stance against the government's alleged double standard and to mark the birthday of Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda. The police commissioner said that his men will make sure that the rally is conducted in a peaceful and lawful manner. Despite the fact that the rally venue has yet to be announced, the police division chiefs have been assigned to closely monitor the activities and communicate with the red-shirt leaders.
