To catch a caho at Bungsamran is difficult. After fishing on most of the bungalows the best location is on the central platform. And best on weekdays as it's not crowded, we never fish on weekends. Ideal is one angler run 2 rods and hire Boonsong as a guide. Why a guide? Here I know forummers is not warm to the idea of a guide. With carp fishing the most important is the bait and Boonsong will only make the bait if we hire him. The cost of the bait is 1000baht. I know it sounds ridiculous but Boonsong track record speaks for itself. He is fully booked till mid January.

My friends Dave and Steve fished for cahos on Christmas Eve and Robblok came to fish with us for the day. Very happy to have meet you. It was a enjoyable day and met this crazy Swiss guy who was fishing with Boonsong for cahos. He was so happy he caught a caho he jumped into the pond. He hired Boonsong for 8 days fishing cahos.

Rob caught mekongs. Dave and Steve each caught one caho. The amazing story with Steve's catch was it was caught less than a minute likely due to built up of bait deposit. Dave caught his much later but I went off early.

Steve and I fished 3 days with guide Boonsong for cahos. The end result was a big fat zero. Each day we ran 4 rods but there were no good cahos bite, We did catch a few mekongs average size the largest was 48kg it was disappointing. There were 3 groups fishing for cahos 3 Dutch and 2 Germans but no cahos were caught.

Frank fished for arapamai at Bungsamran yesterday. He started at 630am and finished at 6pm. He paid 20,000baht and since he was unsuccessful Bungsamran refunded him 15,000baht. He caught 2 pacus and an alligator Gar. The boss told me this month not good for fishing. The water coming into the pond is cold and overcast in Bangkok.

Yesterday I realised condition was not good for cahos, saw many Chao Phraya feeding at the top and at 5pm set up a hair rig with a huge weighted float, bought some BBQ chicken from stalls just outside Bungsamran to target Chao Phraya Catfish. Initially set depth at 4ft then changed it to 3ft caught one weighed 22kg.

Saw a group of 50 cahos at the water aerating machines next to restaurant kitchen one was at aleast 80 to 100 kg the mouth was 12 inch across and the talipais was pecking it's mouth. Amazing sight.

Now all Bungsamran fishing guides have to wear this horrible green uniform. All in all good fun drinking, eating and fishing.
