News_Editor
Bomb blasts kill 10 civilians in eastern Afghanistan 2010-10-10 23:37:36 GMT+7 (ICT) KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Ten Afghan civilians were killed on Sunday as a result of two separate bomb blasts in eastern and southeastern Afghanistan, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said. In one incident, ISAF said an insurgent-placed improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a road in the Zurmat district of Paktiya province, in the country's southeast. It struck a vehicle that was carrying at least nine people, including several children. According to initial reports, ISAF said, nine people were killed. Among the dead are three young children, three women, and several men. "The Taliban have complete disregard for innocent women and children - we condemn their indiscriminant killing in the strongest terms," said U.S. Army Colonel Rafael Torres, director of the ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center. "Our thoughts and concerns are with the families of those killed. We'll work with our Afghan partners to find those responsible for this attack and bring them to justice." A second incident killed another child when a car bomb targeted an ISAF mounted patrol in the Manduzai district of Khost province, in eastern Afghanistan. Two other children were also injured. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2010-10-
