Nobel prize winner Maurice Allais dies at 99

PARIS (BNO NEWS) -- Nobel economics prize winner Maurice Allais died in France on Sunday, the government said. He was 99.

Maurice was awarded the 1988 Nobel prize for his "pioneering contributions to the theory of markets and efficient utilization of resources," according to The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

"With the death of Maurice Allais at the age of 99, France has lost one of its most leading economists that the international community honored with the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1988."
