News_Editor Posted October 12, 2010 Share Posted October 12, 2010 Strong earthquake hits eastern Indonesia, no tsunami alert 2010-10-12 17:40:30 GMT+7 (ICT) JAKARTA (BNO NEWS) -- A strong earthquake struck south of West Papua province in eastern Indonesia on late Monday afternoon, seismologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued. The 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck about 149 kilometers (92 miles) from Tual, the capital the Maluku Tenggara regency in Maluku province. It struck about 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the country's seismological agency.
