News_Editor
Alleged spies to be put on trial in Iran 2010-10-13 22:21:11 GMT+7 (ICT) TEHRAN, IRAN (BNO NEWS) -- Tehran's General Prosecutor on Wednesday announced that five people will be facing charges of spying for foreign countries. Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said the alleged spies - whose names were not made public - shared classified information, of which some was from Iran's space and cyber programs, space and economy. "The cases of five spies who had contacts with foreign countries will be sent to the court soon," Dolatabadi said without specifying on a particular date. According to the state-run Fars news agency, Dolatabadi explained that the first case is related to a 28-year-old person who worked for the Iranian aerospace organization; the second case to a 33-year-old person who had received money from foreign intelligence services in return for classified information; the third case, with a 42-year-old person who had contacted "enemy" intelligence services for cooperation; and the other two cases are related to two spies who have shared classified intelligence as well. "The enemies are not sitting idly. They are striving to collect sensitive data from all organizations as the Americans have initiated some efforts this way," Dolatabadi said. Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi had previously stated in early October that several "nuclear spies" were arrested, but Dolatabadi's remarks made no reference to Iran's nuclear program. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2010-10-
