Well, I could venture quite a bit of advice on this....laptop vs. netbook, Atom dual core vs. i3, etc.

This question is not Chiang Rai specific, other than the request as to where to buy a second hand laptop in CR. You do know we have many many forums devoted to specialist topics? Everything from farming to golf to whatever....

Best place to find out about these issues is on the Computer forum, not the Chiang Rai forum.

Moved, but with a live link remaining (this means you click on my last post, this one, to get there).

o.k.

start again,

anybody know the best place to by a laptop

in CHIANG RAI,specifically,

if there are 2ndhand shops please recomend

if i have to buy new, please recomend where,

if there is anything i kneed to know like,

must have thai language or the local repairshops in

CHIANG RAI,specifically, wont be able to repair it,

please advise.

i don't want a debate about computers,

please keep your answers simple,no computer jargin,

and CHIANGRAI specific

or it will be moved.

thanks in advance,

I personally wouldn't buy a secondhand Laptop. I have three old ones, that have problems, one screen, one the keyboard, all 3 have issues, I get around the problems. your sure to have problems yourself.

If you want a big screen why not go for a desktop model. I've seen desktop computers advertised for 5000 baht. Its all personal preferences afterall, if its portability then a small screen , maybe one of those small acers can be picked up for a similar price.

Wireless dongle can be had for a few hundred baht for the desktop, Laptops usually have wifi built in.

you really need to look around one of the computer shops and see whats available.

Chiang Rai is a ghost town when it comes to 2nd hand computer stuff. Some other similar-sized Thai towns have a wealth of choices. Kon Kaen and Chiang Mai (ok, they're larger towns) have a bunch. I found one in C.Rai though; it's about 800 meters due east from the super highway on the road to Wiang Chai (not the road from Mengrei statue), on the left side. It's a small shop at the east end of a cluster of shops. Not a big selection, but usually one or two 2nd hand laptops at any given time.
