george Posted December 9, 2003 Share Posted December 9, 2003 Man bashed, robbed by youths at ATM NONTHABURI: Two youths beat up a senior agricultural official, forced him to withdraw money from an ATM, stole his wallet and a diamond ring and then crashed his car, police said. Thanit Chanpratheep, 45, was about to make a withdrawal on Ngamwongwang road in Nonthaburi yesterday when the two young men showed up beside him, he told police. One grabbed Mr Thanit from behind and the other assaulted him and forced him at knife-point to withdraw money from the ATM. Mr Thanit withdrew 5,000 baht from the machine before being stripped of his wallet and a diamond ring worth 50,000 baht. One of the attackers also took his car keys and drove away. Mr Thanit said he hailed a cab and followed the carjacker to a narrow street near Bamratnaradune Hospital.
