Suspect of Iranian scientist murder says Israel trained him

TEHRAN, IRAN (BNO NEWS) -- One of the suspects arrested over the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist said on Tuesday that he and the other detainees were trained in Israel, the state-run Fars news agency reported.

"I became acquainted with a number of Israeli officers at the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway after we had a visit to Israel," the alleged hit man said. "I received different training courses, including chasing, running, counter-chasing and techniques for planting bombs in a car."

The suspect, Majid Jamalifash, added that during the training received at the Israeli garrison he was trained on how to carry out bomb attacks while riding a motorcycle. The plot for murdering Dr. Ali Mohammadi was reviewed during training several times.

Jamalifash reported admitted that he received both psychological and operational briefings for the murder of the Iranian nuclear scientist back in January 2010. Small models of Mohammadi's house and its surroundings were used during his training course.

On Monday, Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced the capture of a group of terrorists with alleged links to Israel who allegedly perpetrated the assassination of the Iranian scientist as well as spying activities for the Jewish country.

Mohammadi, an Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, was killed in January 2010 as a bomb planted in his motorcycle exploded in front of his house in Tehran. No previous arrests had been made until Monday.

Last year, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blamed Israel for the scientist's murder, the first of three assaults on nuclear scientists of the Islamic country. On November 29, two other nuclear scientists were killed in separate bomb attacks in Tehran.

Iranian authorities managed to capture a number of individuals responsible for the November attacks. The subsequent investigation revealed Israel's alleged direct role in the attacks.

Iran has since claimed that both Israel and the United States have hatched numerous plots to stop its nuclear progress through different measures, including sanctions and assassinations of scientists and university professors.
