Jai Dee
THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT HAS ISSUED A WARNING TO PEOPLE IN THE NORTHEAST TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FLOODS The Meteorological Department has warned Thailand's Northeast provinces of flash floods, as they will be affected by a depression over the South China Sea. The Meteorology Department Director-General, Supharerk Tansrirattanawong (ศุภฤกษ์ ตันศรีรัตนวงษ์), commented about a depression over the South China Sea at 13:00 hrs, which had an epicentre located roughly 400 kilometres West of the Coast of Vietnam, or latitude 13.0 degrees north and longitude 113.0 degrees east. The maximum wind velocity near its centre is some 50 km/hr. Heavy rain is expected for the next few days in Thailand's Northeast and North. Nevertheless, the rainfall will help alleviate the drought in these regions. People in Ubon Ratchathani (อุบลราชธานี) Amnat Charoen (อำนาจเจริญ), Nakhon Phanom (นครพนน), Mukdahan (มุกดาหาร), Surin (สุรินทร์), Si Sa Ket (ศรีษะเกษ) and Chanthaburi (จันทบุรี) are being warned to be on the lookout for flash floods, forest floods, and overflowing of waterways.
