LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles earlier in the week due to symptoms of congested heart failure, her spokeswoman said.

According to reports, Taylor, who has faced several medical issues in recent years, is currently being monitored at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, where her condition has remained the same. The actress has undergone heart surgery on two occasions, in 2008 and 2009, but no further details were released.

Taylor, 78, although born in London, is the child of American parents who were residing in England. She began her acting career as a child, and she later became one of Hollywood's golden age actresses, winning an Academy Award for Best Actress for her leading role in 1960s 'Butterfield 8' and later earning the same award for her role in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'

Elizabeth is also known for her marriages, as she has had seven husbands in eight marriages. Her most publicized marriage was to Richard Burton.
