dougrobinson2024
I'd like to shoot some video of Bangkok from the highest point I can, with the best view. Anyone know of which building that's open to the public, where one could do that?

dougrobinson2024
OK, I see the website now. That's perfect! Thanks again! I wanted one of those really great shots for the video, sweeping across the city and this should do it beautifully.

chownah
The temple on the mount (I guess that's what they call it)...gives good views..not as spectacular as the nighyolkie tower t00 but way more spiritual!
Rinrada
Excellent! Thank you so much!Do you know if there's any charge to go up to the top? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Last time we went up to have a lookesee I seem to remember that it was bt.100 to use the lift.(worth it) They take you up to the general observation deck which has a sort of permanent exhibition on the origins and history of Krung Tep and the tower. You will however want to go even higher and to the very top . from there go upstairs to the restaurant area and tell the guy that you want to go to the roof. For some reason they dont advertise it too much (prob.dont want 10000 chinese tourists up there.) He will take to through a back door and again seem to remember into another lift /stairway (not 100% sure..so) You then find yourself out in the open air and the whole thing will be revolving....great fun but not for the faint hearted Walk round and click...... taxexile
that revolving platform is quite an experience , you are exposed to high winds and horizontal rain , only a flimsy wire screen and a low concrete "balcony rail" between you and a 600+ foot drop. the steel plates that form the platform scream and squeal as they scrape and slide over the grinding ,rumbling mechanisms beneath. the noises of the machinery are like the sounds of some infernal torture apparatus and all add to the experience. hope they havent oiled it before your visit. best when a storm is coming in fast. one of bangkoks better tourist experiences , but as rinrada says , not for the fainthearted. Membrane
Whoa.... Quite a vivid description! I'm almost getting vertigo, just sitting here in front of my computer! Edited September 11, 2005 by Membrane
Curt
The gang hit the Baiyoke Sky for a buffet get-together last trip. It was during a thunderstorm! The restaurant was engulfed in the clouds. Lightning was cracking all around us. After the storm, the clouds cleared and the views were spectacular; clear, clean air! At one point, the power went out. Unfortunately, I was downstairs wrangling late arrivals at the time. Fortunately, I wasn't in the glass elevator! The Skipper
The view from the Bioke tower is almost too high for video, like shooting from an airplane. I bet the State Tower or Banyon Tree hotel has better scenery.
samran
The Vertigo bar at the Banyan Tree hotel gets my vote...much classier.

EVO
The Sky bar and restaurant (forgotten name of it) on top of the Meritus Suites State Tower are a better location for shooting as there is more to be seen background wise in the immedtaite area. Its also not quite as high so you dont et the airplane feeling to the shot. However, they are a pain in the ass when it comes to taking fotos up there. They claim its a security breech. SinCityGr8One
Go to the State Tower. Take the elevator to the Restaurant on top of the Tower. It is called Mezzaluna. What an incredible view from any window dining table. You can go outside for an even better view! If you do Lunch or Dinner there, I will warn you it is PRICEY! However, Staff, Service, and Food are Outstanding! Dress code enforced, so dress appropiately. It is one heck of a view!
