Forethat
For the past 2 days I've noticed a tiny little bird with an almost hummingbird-like way of flying. I cant get closer than 40 yards, so apologies for the poor picture - I only have a 300mm zoom lens. Is this a Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet-backed_Flowerpecker

isanbirder
I saw one displaying the other day.... bill pointed vertically downward, tail in the air, the whole body shaking violently.... showing off the scarlet stripe. The female was nearby, looking totally uninterested. I've never seen this display recorded.
Forethat
I saw one displaying the other day.... bill pointed vertically downward, tail in the air, the whole body shaking violently.... showing off the scarlet stripe. The female was nearby, looking totally uninterested. I've never seen this display recorded. I see exactly this kind of behavior all the time, he's obviously trying to impress someone or intimidate someone else. There's another one - not as colorful - hanging around here, I presume it's the female, but I have yet to get her picture, more difficult to spot from 40 yards...
