GUERRERO, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- At least 17 bodies were found in a clandestine grave in Mexico's southern state of Guerrero, La Jornada newspaper reported Wednesday.

The bodies were found in the community of La Gavia in the town of San Miguel Totolapan, which has been gripped by drug violence. Mexican army cordoned off the area while soldiers continue the search for more bodies. Unofficial figures are between 60 and 100 bodies, yet the number cannot be confirmed.

State police director Fernando Monreal said he received the information on Tuesday afternoon, but hasn't received any further information since the community is six hours away from the main town.

Between May and June 2010, 55 bodies were found in the municipality of Taxco de Alarcón, also in Guerrero.

Meanwhile, at least 50 people were killed on Tuesday in separate drug-related incidents in the states of Nuevo León, Chihuahua, Guerrero, Coahuila, Baja California, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Aguascalientes and Jalisco.

More than 30,000 people have died in drug-related violence since Mexican President Felipe Calderón launched a military crackdown against organized crime in December 2006.
