News_Editor Posted April 25, 2011 Share Posted April 25, 2011 At least 39 people die after boat capsizes in DR Congo 2011-04-25 19:54:14 GMT+7 (ICT) KINSASHA, CONGO (BNO NEWS) -- At least 39 people have been reported dead after a boat capsized in a lake in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), officials said Monday. According to reports, the boat, which was traveling from Minova to Bukavu, in the province of South Kivu, was reportedly carrying over 100 people when it capsized in DR Congo's Lake Kivu. Emanuelle Mulinbwa, a communication counselor of South Kivu province told Xinhua news agency that search and rescue teams had found 39 bodies, as teams continue to work in the area. Meanwhile, the ship's owner, Maneno Muzuka, said bad weather and high winds were linked to the accident.
