At least 4 dead, 5 injured after attack on Navy bus in southern Pakistan

KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Another Navy bus on Thursday was attack by militants leaving at least four sailors dead and five more injured in the troubled Karachi, southern Pakistan.

According to the state-run APP news agency, the terrorist attack targeted a Pakistan Navy bus which was carrying sailors near Karsaz. This was the third attack against the Navy this week.

At about 8:15 a.m. local time, a bus transporting 11 service members of Pakistan's Navy was hit by a roadside bomb. The blast also damaged a petrol pump and nearby buildings.

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the bomb attack in Karsaz area. The PM announced than an investigation was launched and a report is expected in the coming days.

Thursday's attack was very similar to the ones that took place last Tuesday. Two Pakistan Navy buses were attacked in two separate incidents, killing four people and injuring another 56.

The first attack occurred in the Mohajir Camp of Karachi's Baldia Town neighborhood, when a remote-controlled explosive device detonated. Two Navy personnel were killed during the explosion.

In the Defense II area of Karachi, the second attack occurred against another Pakistan Navy bus when an explosive device planted on a motorbike detonated and killed another two Navy personnel.

President Zardari remarked on Thursday that the latest terror attacks, which Taliban militants claimed responsibility for, would not deter the government from fighting terrorism, militancy, and extremism.
