RABAT, MOROCCO (BNO NEWS) -- Three Moroccans were arrested in connection with last month's terrorist bombing at a cafe in Marrakech, the state-run Maghreb Arabe Presse news agency reported Thursday.

Morocco's Interior Ministry said in a statement that three Moroccans were arrested, including the main perpetrator of the April 28 attack at the cafe of Argana that left 16 dead and 21 wounded. It added that the main perpetrator, who swore allegiance to al-Qaida, made several attempts to travel to Chechnya and Iraq before deciding to carry out a terrorist act inside Morocco.

The ministry said the man learned how to make explosives on the Internet, and created two bombs. He entered the cafe disguised as a tourist.

The cafe was popular with tourists, and from the 16 fatal victims, eleven were foreign nationals.
