Jai Dee Posted October 12, 2005 Share Posted October 12, 2005 CHAIYAPHUM HAD 560,000 VISITORS IN FISCAL 2005, GENERATING 480 MILLION BAHT The tourism, sports, and recreation center in CHAIYAPHUM (ชัยภูมิ) Province has reported a total of 560,000 visitors to the province in the fiscal year 2005, with revenue of 480 million baht. Chaiyaphum Provincial Governor PRAPHAKORN SAMITI (ประภากร สมิติ) revealed that for the 2005 fiscal year, Chaiyaphum Province has been striving for tourism promotion efforts and public relations to bring in more tourists. Reports and surveys from the tourism, sports, and recreations sector in the province and the Northeastern Region 1 Tourism Authority of Thailand stated that CHAIYAPHUM had a total of 22 hotels, resorts, and residences throughout its 15 districts that are available to tourists. Visitors average 2 days 1 night per person. The number of 560,189 visits is an increase from 2004's number by 14.33%. Of this number, 289,089 came for recreational purpose, a 20.13% increase from 2004. The CHAIYAPHUM governor said the prospect of tourism in the province for fiscal 2006 should be bright, as the province has now arranged comprehensive tourism development plan as well as tourism promotional activities for all 3 seasons year-round. Tourism sites have been arranged for the winter season, such as mountains, caves, and a dam.
