An Australian football team helped build a school at Phi Phi.

The Broadbridge Education Center was opened on the 30 September, at Phi Phi Island Beach Village Resort & Spa, Phuket. The Broadbridge Education Center was initiated by Trisha Broadbridge, the widow of Melbourne football player Troy Broadbridge whose life was tragically lost in the Tsunami of December 2004 while the couple was honeymooning on Phi Phi Island. After returning to Australia, Trisha established the Broadbridge Fund to honour the memory of Troy and to assist in providing education for youngsters on the damaged Phi Phi Island.

Last month, the Australian Football League Players’ Association presented the Broadbridge Fund with a cheque for 250,000 Australian dollars (or about 7.8 million baht) and brought along around 30-40 AFL players to help construct the center during the week. All of them also attended the opening ceremony.
