Weather In The North Is Cooling

WEATHER IN THE NORTH HAS COOLED DOWN, AND THE COLD SEASON THIS YEAR IS EXPECTED TO BE LIKE LAST YEAR'S

The weather in Chiang Mai Province has started to cool off, and the temperature is expected to be reach as cold as last winter. Meanwhile the provincial public health office is urging residents to be aware of possible respiratory diseases.

With the cold airmass from China presently covering the northern region of the country, the upper northern region of Thailand now experiences morning fog and cool weather. Yesterday the temperature on top of Doi Inthanond (ดอยอินทนนท์), Thailand's highest point, measured 9 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department indicated that the northern region part of Thailand will be experiencing similar weather conditions last year. However temperatures on high mountains will be slightly cooler than last year. Meanwhile the weather will reach its climax end of December and the beginning of January.

In the meantime, the Chiang Mai public health office has cautioned that residents should be aware of diseases that will come with the cold, such as flu and influenza, by keeping one's body warm at all times.

As for tourism, 5% more tourists are expected in Chiang Mai compared to last year, after the vigorous public relations campaign in promiting the North as well as various links to other nearby touristic spots.
