News_Editor
Suspected drunk driver injures 11 cyclists in Los Angeles 2011-06-17 10:40:37 GMT+7 (ICT) LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Eleven people were injured on early Thursday morning after a suspected drunk driver plowed her car into a large group of bicyclists in the Baldwin Village area of Los Angeles, officials said. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Christine Dahab, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to officials. She told police she was looking down at her phone when she crashed into the bike riders just before 2 a.m. local time. The cyclists were part of a group called Midnight Ridazz and were waiting for their friends at the time of the accident. According to authorities, nine of the 11 people injured were hospitalized, while one person is in a critical condition. Several others sustained serious injuries. Police say the cyclists bear some responsibility because they were hanging out in the first lane of vehicle traffic and were at the park after hours. Police also found evidence of alcohol, condoms and marijuana where the group was hanging out. The accident remains under investigation. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2011-06-
