pepi2005
Hello, I've 6 months left on my trip, but only 5 free pages in my passport. I'm considering a visa run to Burma for a few hours (not a regular stay!) when being in Chiang Rai, but does anyone of you know how large the stamp or entry is they put in the passport? Does it cover a full page as the Burma visa I got 2 years ago? What about the costs? thanks a lot! pepi

jackr
No, it's just a regular stamp, one in, one out and the same for the Thai end, so four stamps a month. Visa's fill up pages, stamps don't. They should be able to fit six stamps on a page, sometimes as many as eight, but the Myanmar stamp is oval and a little larger. If you work it out to six per page, that will be two pages for three months. I take it you're just bouncing the borders every month then? as if you have a Thai tourist visas or a year visa you've nothing to worry about. The cost to enter Myanmar is 250 baht. You can get the two stamps there and then and turn around straight away if you want. Probably the best option as the market on the Myanmar side is a bit crap and there are touts trying to sell you porno cds and cigarettes everywhere. pepi2005
Thanks a lot for the information. I'm from an EU country and my embassy told me that I could only get an "emergency passport" valid for only 6 months, but still costing almost 80 Euro (!!), or I had to be a permanent resident in Thailand to get a NEW passport. But if it's only 4 stamps, this sounds 'reasonable' for an 'extension' of my Thai visa. Then I'll stay in TH a bit longer and not immediately move on to the next country of my trip. bartender100
Why not go to Penang, get a 6 months multi entry, then you would only need two cambodian stamps to see you though.
