george Posted October 23, 2005 Share Posted October 23, 2005 Long-time Bangkok resident dies aged 58 Long-time Bangkok resident Anthony Charles Bekenn, of PricewaterhouseCoopers, died of heart failure at Samitivej Hospital yesterday. He was 58 and had been treated for heart problems for the past three months. Failing health forced Bekenn, who had worked with the company for more than 30 years, to retire from PricewaterhouseCoopers this year. He first came to Bangkok to head the Coopers and Lybrand offices in Thailand in 1975. Prior to joining the Bangkok offices, he worked with Coopers and Lybrand in Hong Kong and Singapore. When Coopers and Lybrand merged worldwide with Pricewaterhouse in July 1998, Bekenn became the top auditor of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bekenn qualified as a chartered accountant while working with Winney and Murray (now Ernst and Young) in Birmingham, England in 1971. He is survived by his wife Kusuma, son Christopher, daughter Christina, and two stepdaughters, May Albano and My Kengkankar. A funeral service will be held for him at Christ Church, Convent Road tomorrow at 11am. After the funeral service, his body will be moved to Wat That Thong for bathing rites starting at 4.30pm, followed by prayers starting at 7pm. Prayer rites will be held at Sala 14 each day, starting at 7pm, until Saturday.
