Brew
i wouldn't recommend to rent a motorcycle. mostly they have just the compulsory insurance (up to 100.000Bt for medical costs or death), no 3rd party cover. in case of accident, theft or damage you could get in problems. twinmaster
OK, sounds like a Honda Wave or like will do the trick. i wouldn't recommend to rent a motorcycle. mostly they have just the compulsory insurance (up to 100.000Bt for medical costs or death), no 3rd party cover. in case of accident, theft or damage you could get in problems. I've rented motorbikes in Thailand, China, and Vietnam and never had a problem. Why do you have such a pessimistic attitude about renting one? Did something bad happen to you? My OP was how much do they cost to rent, not should I rent one.

Did something bad happen to you? My OP was how much do they cost to rent, not should I rent one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the costs have been mentioned by other posters. i've posted my answer to remind people about difficulties that can happen. ask the company if the motorcycle is insured and you'll receive the answer "yes", but what kind of insurance? first class insurance for motorcycles is not available in thailand, only 3rd party. and most of the companies who rent them are not willing to spend 1500Bt more a year for that. theft of motorcycles is not uncommon, you'll have to pay for it if it happens to you. you as a professional mc-renter are aware of this problems, i think. but what about others who read this post?
twinmaster
Fair enough, as rented motorbikes do get nicked from time to time, and accidents can and do happen. One must always use care and caution when driving borrowed bikes in a foreign land.
