beano2274 Posted September 12, 2011 Share Posted September 12, 2011 You need to download the "Affirmation to Marry" form from the Embassy website, get it translated into Thai and stamped, then go to the MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chaengwattana Road), get it certified by the Government, then you are free to marry in Thailand. Mario2008 Posted September 12, 2011 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Per above, visit the British embassy website and download the form for both of you and see what you need to provide. Next you have the stamped form translated and go to the Cunsular Section of the Thai Foreign Ministry and have it legalized there. After that is done, you can get marreid with these documents at any amphur in Thailand. The marriage is recognized in Britain. It is only a registration, whcih should take smething like about 30 minutes and is free. But you will need a copy of the marriage registration, for about 50 baht. You might want to have that one translated and certified by the Thai foreign office and The British Embassy, for official use in the UK. For the marriage you will need 2 withnesses, but if you don't have them the amhur will provide them. Sometiems for a small fee. If you want a real ceremony, you have to arrange something yourself. I assume Kor Dor 2 and 3 are in Thai and in need of translation before useful in home country for the registration? If you want one, go to a lawyer and have him draft one. You need to enter the prenup when you register the marriage, doing it afterwards is very difficult and costly. For the UK, certification by the translation office is sufficient and certification by the MFA and British embassy are not required (I'm not sure that the British embassy even offer such a service.) However, if you ever wish to use the certificate to obtain a Schengen visa (for Europe) you will need it certified either by the Thai MFA in Bangkok or the Thai embassy/consulate in your home country.
