webfact
Flood rises to 3 meters deep in Sing Buri, villagers wait for assistance SING BURI, 11 October 2011 (NNT) – People on both sides of a river in Phrom Buri District, Sing Buri province, have been surrounded by flood for nearly a month with floodwater reaching 3 meters high above the ground. Residents have been forced to live on roadsides as their homes are now under the water. A report says the evacuees have been struggling to get by on a daily basis without the help from the government and they are hoping that rescue efforts will arrive soon. 78-year-old Kamol Chancha-um of Phrom Buri said the water had not receded for a month and it started to send bad odors and become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. He said his belongings and gardens of vegetables had been severely damaged. He repeated his call for urgent help from authorities including post-flood renovation of houses as it would take several years for villagers who are mostly farmers, to revive their plantations. -- NNT 2011-10-
