Jai Dee Posted November 16, 2005 Share Posted November 16, 2005 CHIANG MAI POLICE ARREST PRODUCERS OF PORNO VIDEOS Police region 5, in cooperation with Chiang Mai provincial police, arrested 8 producers of obscene media. Deputies provincial Police Region 5, Police Major-general Panwat Sriwalai (พันธุ์วัฒน์ ศรีวาลัย), and Major general Sittipong Punnotok (สิทธิพงษ์ ปุณโณฑก), and commander of Chiang Mai provincial police, Police Major general Jirut Prommobol (จิรุจน์ พรหมโมบล), jointly held a press conference declaring progress on crack down on obscene media and violation of property rights in Chiang Mai since September. They said that police in Chiang Mai police arrested 21 suspected producers of obscene media along with 3,000 VCDs, 146 pornographic magazines, and 6 computers. They added that 56 other people were arrested on charges of violating property rights. Police Major-general Panwat said that Chiang Mai is notorious for illegal CD trafficking, adding foreign criminals used to produce obscene media there. He added that presently, police found transmission of pornographic pictures via mobile phones. He said the police are tracing the origins of those pictures. He said that if found, the people sending those pictures will also face legal action.
