How about Phi Phi Island. No vehicles on the roads, everything within walking distance, clean beaches, great sunsets etc. I think it could be ideal for family and friends.

There is one or two smaller islands you could make day trips to. Well known for diving. Though It's a two and a half hour boat trip to and from the Island, no airport. There is a varied selection of hotels etc.

I hadn't given Phi Phi Island much thought,as I understood it was a Tad commercialised, now you have given me another one to research, especially with other Islands to explore.

Thanks Garrfeild!

P.S Mrs Majic has just informed me,that she has always wanted to go there,hmm.....if we end up going there,i'll let her think it was her idea, having been together, best part of a decade,it's the first time i've heard of her wish though.

After the tzunami, They started to rebuild stronger buildings. I guess you might say it is comercialised, partly because things are close together. But the beach is very big and plent of space. It is geared to a younger crowd because of the diving and I think they have full moon parties there.

Maybe it depends on your outlook and age, though I don't really think that should matter. I would also suggest that it may not be that busy, despite what the Thai tourist people say, there really isn't that many tourists in Thailand at the moment. Besides your almost at the end of the season when you come here! I would still say it would be a good family destination.

It is such a picturesque place and well worth a visit. If you do go you will need to get to Phuket and the Harbour. try to negotiate the price for the crossing, we did and saved a couple hundred baht for 2 people! You can unless you book online choose your accommodation before boarding the boat. They have photos of the resorts and hotels etc, The advantage is there will be a guy waiting for you on arrival to take you to the hotel. So it saves hunting around for the hotel. either way chances are someone will be waiting to escort you to where your staying, or poach you from! if you see what I mean.

Besides you can always blame the misses, after all, it was her idea :whistling:

Ko Phayam off of Ranong.

Or head to Trang and visit any of the islands off of there. Ko Ngai,K Muk, Ko Kradan.

All are places u can truly get away from it but be aware they are catching on. and as usual its the back packers that find the places before the suitcase tourist!!!

If u visit Phi Phi its very easy as many tour boats head over there each day. AS i understand it it has really been built up since the Tsunami hit and full of shops and noise at night. Hard to get way as it so tight. Plus its wins the award for one place with the most plastic bags in the water year after year
