Jai Dee Posted November 18, 2005 Share Posted November 18, 2005 THE AGRICULTURE AND COOPERATIVES MINISTRY AND THE NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY TO HELP OUT FARMERS IN KANCHANABURI The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry have cooperated together to set frameworks for dealing with natural disasters. The ministries will provide water to every village nationwide. Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister SUDARAT KEYURAPHAN (สุดารัตน์ เกยุราพันธุ์) presided over a ceremony to donate funds to drought-hit farmers in KANCHANABURI (กาญจนบุรี) Province. The drought crisis damaged 665,300 RAI of agricultural areas and affected 44,356 farmers. The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry establishes two solutions. They include developing water resources to alleviate drought crisis and providing additional career skills to farmers. The Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister also asked the Cabinet for a budget of 145 million baht assist the troubled farmers.
