62strat Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 The timing and secretive style seems to reflect a payback for favors, maybe even against Yingluck's will as PM...quite possible that her brother is upping the profile for his return irregardless of the cost to her....I'm sure he fully intends on returning most probably in December, so waiting for a 'good time' may not be an option for him....for the sake of stability of a fragile government with a monumental tasks ahead restoring confidence in future flood control, the issue of one man's return and avoiding jail may have to be decided publicity by a higher authority and let both sides fold their hands and accept wise consul on this.... Yingluck sneaks off to Singburi and states that "Oh it's dark now, my helicopter can't fly in the dark because it has no radar so I can't return for my cabinet meeting" Army says "of course that model has radar and so does the other helicopter that is on standby" Chalerm the magnificent holds the meeting kicking out all but a select few cronies. Meeting is "secret" - well all know why. Meeting agrees to this amnestty. When cabinet is asked about the meeting the outcome is silence, no comment or Plodprasop "I can't say, it's a secret" Yingluck, when asked, says "Don't ask me what they did - I wasn't there" Absolute disgrace. 3 army helicopters clash in a single week, all flying in day-light. Including the most expensive US made black hawk with radar. And you you say it is OK to fly at night? If they can't put all the best parts in two choppers to ferry the PM then they might as well just go pick rice. The 3 crashes were not top level divisions units, but ones out there in cheapo, back country rank n file army land. All of his poicies failed, don't you realise. Take his drugs massacre of innocent civilians on the streets in 2003, his failed education poicies (just like his "stupid" tablets idea)!!! He bankrupted/nearly bankrupted most hospitals with his failed health policies, his rice pledging scheme was costly and ineffective as it will be again and will only benefit the millers. Everything he does and has done has been ultimately disastrous for Thai's including his so-called populist schemes for the poor - if they knew (and could understand) what he stands for, then it wouldn't be "hapless Yingluck" running the country now and the flood disaster would have been contained a darned sight better than it is being now!!! Wise up people and realise that he stands for "himself" and his interests and couldn't care a f*** about them!!! Sod those people who have died or lost everything and "get me to the church on time" is all that matters to him!!!! What a despicable, evil and heartless sub-human being he is!!!! Naturally I believe that this "general amnesty" is for everyone as it wouldn't be right or ethical to implement it simply for Thaksin's benefit, would it. Don't forget, Yingluck stated that any amnesty would not be solely for Thaksin's benefit and it is not a priority for this govenment???? So, basically, the floods are not a very high priority either then!!!!. I don't know why they didn't stipulate the amnesty conditions as: Male billionaire ex-prime ministers born before the 27th July 1949 and with sentences of less than 2 years and 1 day and only those with the initials TS!!!. Like what? Refuse the south aid because they didn't vote for him? I think you meant "positive things for his people" because that's all he and his party have ever done. Reward the states that voted them in whereas other parties have considered the needs of the whole country not just the north which is all you selfishly care about. Tend to agree with you myself, but we seem to be in a small minority here. He certainly didn't have spotless integrity (but that seems to be a fact-of-life in Thai politics) and his human rights record left a lot to be desired, but he also did a lot for people who had previously been marginalised and ignored. I know this is not the place for a red-yellow debate, but it's beyond dispute that he was ousted illegally, and I agree that's where the real shame lies. Ohhh I forgot, the police are his appointee's aren't they - are the army allowed to do this????? If they are, you can guarantee that his first step as he disembarks the plane will be assisted by a uniformed man taking hold of his arm and guiding him to his destination (it might not be the same as Thaksin's intended destination though)!!! Ms Yingluck's delegation also could have had another helicopter for her return on Monday night, which the military was ready to provide. The source said the prime minister's delegation seemed to intentionally extend her trip in Sing Buri because they boarded the helicopter nearly an hour later than scheduled. Corruption on top of corruption and so transparent. The military done a nice little bit of stiring. I wonder is another coup iminent? Or more riots perhaps? Or will it be Mai-bpen-rai? He changed their shackles for ones they believe don't exist, but are even more controlling than the old ones. Not a fair trade IMHO. It is not beyond dispute that he still 'legally held the Caretaker Prime Minister position', considering that he : Had publicly resigned from it earlier. Then a week later decided unilaterally to take it back, without a reappointment to the position. And without the mandatory visit to the Palace to confim that, which was required under the constitution.. So no he was not LEGALLY the PM when ousted. It can be seen that his taking the job back was a 'soft coup in progress'. And the' exile' is really 'self-imposed exile' to avoid jail for his conviction.
