Here are some photo from Issan - my very small farm at Baan Kham Khom Village at Sirindhorn Dam in Ubonratchathani. I have called the abode "Latis" after the Goddess of Water and Beer.

A few pictures taken in my garden.

First shows the "tookay" which lives behind the AC unit. Second shows what I believe to be a St. Andrews Cross spider in my hen house. Third shows an egg laid by one of the chickens in the rafters of the hen house roof. Fourth shows one of my dogs relaxing under the still-warm BBQ bucket. Last shows another of my dogs relaxing on Mrs. M's motorbike.

khao suan kwan zoo fairly new open zoo in the north khon kaen province bordering with udon thani, still work in progress, not many animals and the uphill road leading to the entrance is atrocious. But is fun and not many people about. A purpose built high bridge allows you birdview of the animals. Last time I was there on family trip, in October, still no wild animals like tigers or lions.

a place which must be seen to believe, is a temple in nakhon ratchasima province, called Wat Pa La Roy; the ground around the temple is full of sculptures representing hell in the after life. Sinners suffering the consequences of their actions when alive. Liars have their tongue sliced off, adulterers their genitals hacked, thieves their hands chopped off etc... The punishment is mostly meted out by animals like figures to hapless humans. The whole atmosphere has kind of mystique, people walk around in almost silence

traditional longboat race in Kumphawapi, Udon Thani, long and narrow boats with 40 plus rowers, spectators sitting down on the river bank and the speaker sounds like the Thai version of Grand National in Aintree. Plus in typical Isaan fashion, there was a sideshow on the opposite river bank, loud music and young lovelies dancing in traditional costumes to entertain people in between races
