"All of the injured have been transported to the Kluaynamthai Hospital except for the foreigner who was transported to Chulalongkorn Hospital."

This low life is still alive. Maybe he would appreciate some visitors.

Why Chulalongkorn Hospital? Chulalongkorn Hospital is a long long way away in Silom, amid Bangkok traffic, it could easily take 45 mins. There are lots of nearer hosipitals, like banrungrad or Samitivate etc.

exactly. if it takes longer, maybe he wont make it. then he cant talk. get it.

Iranian loses legs in Bangkok bombing

BANGKOK, Feb 14 – Traffic is stopped following the explosion of two bombs in separate locations in Bangkok's fashionable Sukhumvit 71, one injuring an Iranian man.

The man who lost his legs was initially reported to have thrown the bomb into Soi Pridi Panomyong 35 losing both his legs in the process, but there is no explanation as to the man’s purpose.

A photo on Twitter claimed to show the victim on a sidewalk near a school, his lower body seemingly gone due to an explosion.

Close at hand, in Soi Pridi Panomyong 31, a second bomb was found and the explosive ordnance disposal squad was working to defuse it. (MCOT online news)

With a bit of luck it will take two days.

Deputy Metro Police Chief: Iranian loses legs, three others injured in Bangkok bombings; no confirmation of possible terrorism /MCOT

That's rich. No confirmation of terrorism? Was it a picnic in the park then?

Same M.O. as the last story, "murder, stabbed several times, and strangled" ---- "no sign of struggle" <--<deleted> ,, now no sign or terrorism? Wasn't something else going to happen today at British embassy over some woman's visa issue? Hard to keep up so I'm confused.

I have heard that soi called many things, but fashionable is a new one on me.

Try driving a car from Klong Tan to the junction of Suk Rd, the traffic is bloody terrible.

Man blows off own leg with grenade in Bangkok

Feb 14, 2012, 9:01 GMT

Bangkok - A man thought to be Iranian blew his own leg off with a grenade after being refused a cab ride in Bangkok.

The man, identified as Saeib Morabi, allegedly tried to get in a taxi in the city centre Monday but was refused a ride by the driver, prompting him to toss a grenade in the cab.

The resulting explosion injured the driver and two nearby pedestrians, said Major General Vichai Sangkhapai, deputy chief of Bangkok Police.

The suspect then fled the scene but was tracked down by police. He threw another grenade when they tried to arrest him, but it blew up next to him, severing his own leg, Vichai said.

A Pattaya hotel bill in the man's wallet bore the name Saeib Morabi. The hotel said he had registered there under an Iranian identity.

Fashionable is very subjective. It all depends on your current taste.

Soap operas and cartoons on all Thai TV channels, while breaking news on both CNN and BBC.

Not surprised in the least, George. Same as the tsunami in 2004. Nothing but cartoons and soap operas and most people were unaware of what had happened.

One hurt in blasts in Thai capital: police

BANGKOK, February 14, 2012 (AFP) - A man believed to be Iranian was seriously wounded when a device he was suspected of carrying exploded in the Thai capital Bangkok on Tuesday, police said.

Police investigators rushed to the scene after three men were seen fleeing from a house where a blast was reported in the east of the city.

One of the men hurled an explosive device at a taxi which refused to stop and later tried to throw another device at police, triggering a blast which tore off his legs, authorities said.

"An Iranian ID was found with the injured man so it's likely that he's an Iranian national," Major General Pisit Pisuthisak, deputy commander of Bangkok Metropolitan Police, told AFP by telephone from the scene.

"A police forensics team is examining the house," he added.

The suspect was admitted to a Bangkok hospital where he was receiving emergency treatment.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra urged people not to "jump to conclusions" about the circumstances behind the blasts.

"Let the police and intelligence agencies do their work and the public must not panic because the perpetrator was detained," she told reporters during a visit to northeast Thailand.

The city has been on edge since the United States last month warned of a threat of a terrorist strike on tourist areas in Bangkok.

Thai police later charged a Lebanese suspect after they raided a property and discovered chemicals that could be used to make a bomb.

Thai authorities allege the Lebanese man has links to Hezbollah, an Iranian- and Syrian-backed Muslim Shiite group that is blacklisted as a terrorist organisation by Washington.

The Bangkok blasts came a day after bombs targeted Israeli interests in India and Georgia, injuring a diplomat and her driver in New Delhi, in attacks that Israel accused Iran of masterminding.

Don't worry the sanitized version will be shown on Thai television news tonight.

Wouldn't want to scare off the "tourists" you know from coming to Thailand and going to Pattaya.

Oh, and by the way, I have seen a person before with his legs blown off...and it can mean, depending on the strength and location of the blast, that the veins and arteries ih his legs will be basically sealed shut by the blast...resulting in very little blood loss.

At least initially.

Not fun to see.
