Nakhon Sawan News

Recommended Posts

I know it's a bit early. But Happy Birthday Wayne for the 14th.

Update on the N/S roads.

I have just had the misfortune of having to travel through N/Smog. They are still sorting the 1/32 out just before you get into N/S coming from the north having a single lane to help you on your speedy way.

The so called bypass is still being worked on with about 55% finished. Still better than having to go through the town though with it's hoards of traffic and 10 thousand traffic lights (Slight under estimation on the last bit)

In my estimation around 2 years all should be fine. At least we have something to look forward to. Albeit at least 1/2 an hour off your journey time.

Going South & North on the 1/32 towards BKK they are having speed checks and road blocks some 4 in each direction. Mostly checking for tax with the added bonus of instant speeding fines.

It took me nearly 6 hours to get to Pattaya (EEEEEEEEEK) when I used to be able to do the trip in around 4 hours. So please add time if your going that way.

Meanwhile in leafy Nakhon Sawan the police have been super active in enjoining all restaurant and caff owners not to serve alcohol between 2 pm and 5 pm.

Has this been going on in other places in the area?

Bit of a bummer for anyone just wanting a glass of chardonnay with a late lunch.

One wonders when this will spread to Bangkok and Pattaya.

Not a problem where I live unless you plan on eating at 7-11.  A glass of chardonnay would be though.  Your choices are basically limited to Chang, Leo, Hong Thong (bottle) or regency (bottle).  The only wine available here is the crap that they sell in 7-11.

As luck would have it the great K.P.Phet is still serving drinks 24/7. Seems to be a bit of a thing going on in some places though, that's the no drinks syndrome. One of the lads has just had a few days in Chang Mai. No drinks at any bars during the day with them having to shut up shop sharp at midnight. So if your heading that way be prepared for a dry time.

On the other hand Pattaya is much the same as it was. Drinks all day and most of the night it seems. You can also smoke everywhere, except on the beach but who in their right mind would go on the beach in Pattaya anyway. Rule unto themselves. Or it could be tips for the BIB who knows.

Is this the same billd who has a nomination for POTY?

It could well be the same billd who had no idea that he had been nominated and still has little idea who would be dumb enough to vote for him.

If it were me I wouldn't vote for him at all.

I never bother to read the POTY post until they announce a winner and the first I knew of it was this morning when I logged on.

Meanwhile, thank you very much for voting for me.

Well come on.then, anyone else here been out for a drink? After some of the characters I have met in NS I used to say that all the nutters are not in Pattaya, perhaps I called ot a bit wrong.

Does seem very quiet and incident free lately. I remember the heated debates about whether or not to change the forum name and who to include. Seems very long ago now.

Oh shoite I am even into the outage time. Sad old git
