Popular Post BookMan
While reading some threads I clicked on 'Like this' a number of times (i have no idea how many). After a while i received the following message. "You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day" Why limit the number of different posts you can 'Like'? (is this for newer members?) If you are reading hundreds of different posts in any 24 hour period it makes sense that you will like quite a few. It isn't like people earn Bonus Reward Points, redeemable by cash if they get a lot of 'Likes'. Isn't the purpose of the Like button to appreciate posts that you agree with or enjoy or find useful? Sure, someone might like EVERY post they read... but why would that matter anyway? Thoughts?

To save on code and page loading a super intelligent Ai with a terrific sense of humor decides which posts are assigned a like button, based primarily one the likelihood that anyone will like it.
BookMan
my posts dont get a "like" button.... so only those with a facebook account do? Your posts get a 'Like This' button. janverbeem
my posts dont get a "like" button.... so only those with a facebook account do? You think that's the only reason you don't get likes as well?By the way there is never a like button visible to the contributor who made the post. dantilley
I think the limit is to stop people clicking "Like" on every post they see without thinking about whether they do really like it or not. Having a limit means you have to be a bit more sparing with your likes, and so a bit more thought goes into it.

dantilley
Do I have to 'unlike this' to get my 'like this' s back? Interesting point actually - if you unlike a like you've done on the same day, do you get an extra like back in your quota?

Popular Post theblether
I was skeptical...but I have to say this new function is excellent. Yes I remember you indicating your dislike for the like button when the like button was announced, you indicated that you disliked the concept of like as the idea of having a like button had been tried before with consequences that you disliked. However now that we have a like button you are starting to see that it is a likeable function so therefore your previous dislike has now dissipated to the point that you can admit liking the function, and you dislike admitting that you have changed your mind. In summary.......you have Selective Like Disorder. However we like your posts cos your a likeable kind of guy. I hope you don't dislike this post. regards theblether.
